Fillers are a type of dermal filler that can address issues related to volume loss in various facial areas. These problems often arise as individuals age, leading to bone degradation or loss of fat cells, resulting in deep grooves in areas such as the under-eye hollows, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, sunken temples, and sunken cheeks. These issues can contribute to an aged appearance. However, younger individuals can also experience these problems. Additionally, fillers can be used to enhance facial proportions aesthetically, such as lengthening the chin to correct a short chin, defining the jawline, or even reshaping the lips according to current trends without the need for surgery.
Types of Fillers Used at The Standard Aesthetic Clinic
At The Standard Aesthetic Clinic, we utilize various types of fillers to address deep lines and volume loss, primarily focusing on fillers containing Hyaluronic Acid (HA). These fillers are among the most widely recognized and approved by Thailand’s FDA, ensuring safety and traceability for both patients and practitioners
The Standard Aesthetic Clinic’s Choice of Brand and Reasons
Restylane Filler
Restylane Filler from Sweden, produced by Galderma because it is the longest-produced brand in the world, it has been widely accepted both in Thailand and internationally. It is the first HA filler in the world to be registered with the FDA, with outstanding properties due to its similarity to Hyaluronic Acid in the body, ensuring high safety and very low risk of allergic reactions. Additionally, it is certified by the USFDA, Thai FDA, South Korean FDA, and the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM). Patients can trust the safety and satisfying results after treatment.
Restylane is a Hyaluronic Acid filler with properties that help fill in wrinkles and deep lines, as well as increase tissue volume (Augmentation) using two innovative technologies: Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA) and Optimal Balance Technology (OBT). These technologies create a gel with a natural structure that can remain under the skin for a long time and can naturally dissolve.
NASHA Technology (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid)
It is Hyaluronic Acid that most closely resembles the natural substance, with excellent properties for filling the skin and providing long-lasting results. The uniform particle size allows for better skin lifting outcomes, resulting in a more defined, stable appearance at the injection site.
Models produced with NASHA technology include:
- Restylane Lyft: Lifts and contours the face, providing a firm and non-swollen appearance. Used for cheek augmentation, chin enhancement, and defining the jawline. Studies show it lasts up to 24 months.
- Restylane Classic: Fills fine lines, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. Studies show it lasts up to 24 months.
- Restylane Vital: Enhances the natural appearance of the forehead, corrects scars, fills acne pits, and rejuvenates the back of the hands and neck. Studies show it lasts up to 12 months.
- Restylane Vital Light: Known as the Original Skinboosters, it has small molecules that increase moisture in the dermis. It helps improve skin health, reduces wrinkles, and tightens pores. This model is popular for under-eye treatments, providing smooth and natural results without lumpiness.
OBT Technology (Optimal Balance Technology)
A patented technology creates a cross-linked structure of Hyaluronic Acid, resulting in a filler that is soft and flexible. This allows it to integrate well with the skin’s tissue, making it ideal for areas with movement. It effectively fills and contours the face, providing smooth and natural results.
Models produced with OBT technology include:
- Restylane Volyme: Enhances and lifts areas such as the temples and sunken cheeks.
- Restylane Defyne: Lifts and contours facial structures, enhancing cheeks and chin for a soft, natural look. Suitable for those with thin skin due to its soft gel formulation.
- Restylane Refyne: Features fine molecules that blend smoothly with the skin, ideal for filling wrinkles, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. Its flexibility makes it suitable for areas with movement.
- Restylane Kysse: Specifically designed for lips, offering beautiful and natural results to meet various aesthetic needs.
Pre-Filler Injection Guidelines
Study and gather information about the filler to be injected. Choose a clinic that meets standards and safety requirements, using products that are trusted and verifiable. Additionally, consider the experience level of the treating physician.
If getting filler injections for a special occasion, it’s recommended to undergo treatment at least 4-6 weeks before the event.
Avoid alcohol consumption at least 3 days before the treatment to reduce the risk of bruising, as alcohol affects blood clotting.
Refrain from using skincare products containing exfoliating agents such as Retinol, Glycolic acid, AHA, and BHA at least 3 days before and after getting filler injections.
Avoid taking vitamins, aspirin, and NSAIDs (e.g., Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, Ponstan), as well as supplements like Fish oil, St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo biloba, Primrose oil, Garlic, Ginseng, and Vitamin E, for about 1 week before getting filler injections. This is because these substances may slow blood clotting during the injection process and increase the risk of bruising afterward.
If you have any underlying medical conditions or take regular medications, inform the staff or treating physician before each treatment session
Post-Filler Injection Guidelines
Avoid applying makeup or touching the treated area.
Avoid massages, pressing, molding, or sleeping on the injected area, as this may alter the shape and cause the filler to migrate to unintended areas.
Drink an adequate amount of water, about 1.5-2 liters per day. Hyaluronic Acid in the filler acts as a humectant, and proper hydration helps maintain its natural appearance.
Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24-48 hours after treatment.
Stay away from direct sunlight for 3 days after treatment and apply sunscreen with SPF greater than 30 daily to protect the treated area.
Refrain from consuming alcohol and smoking for at least 3 days after getting filler injections, as it may cause redness, inflammation, delayed healing of injection sites, and shorten the longevity of the filler’s effects.
Generally, swelling after filler injections typically subsides within 2-3 days, and you may start to see the desired results within 7-14 days. In some cases, it may take up to 4 weeks to see the full effects.
